This month we say a huge well done and a heartfelt good luck and goodbye to our wonderful school leavers, who will be making their way on to different high schools. Our leavers assemblies were lovely occasions (even despite the sweltering heatwave)! We are all so proud of our brilliant children who are ready to take the next step in their learning journey. Well done, too, to all of our other children who have worked so hard this year and are coming to the end of the time in their current classes. Next year will be a new adventure and a chance to laugh, learn and grow more together.

We had a wonderful visit from our local Police Department! The children were able to meet real police officers, sit in their cars, hear the siren and even beep the horn! The children also took part in a range of creative activities in the hall, all to do with the police such as making finger prints, writing and markmaking on detective note pads and creating police items using playdough. This was all for our topic of 'People Who Help Us'.

Eid Mubarak to our families celebrating this week! As part of our cultural capital, the children will be learning all about Ramadan and the celebration of Eid. If your child has any photos or stories they would like to share or if you would like to arrange coming in to talk about Eid with your child's class, please do get in touch with their class teacher.

Happy St. George's Day everybody! In school, we had a special day devoted to all things St.George! The children heard the story of George and the dragon, then took turns visiting the hall to take part in a range of themed activities.

Summer term is here and we can't wait to enjoy some more sunshine whilst we learn here at The Birches! Last half term finished with a bang, or should we say a 'ROAR' when a life-sized dragon visited our school as part of our 'Imagine That' topic! The children were tasked with managing a change in their routine and interacting with a new, unknown creature. They did SO well being brave and interacting with the dragons, even when they were nervous. Our children always amaze us with their resilience and willingness to explore things with support.
